Sometimes it takes unusual ingredients to make our most memorable bites. Take these Sour Cream Biscuits for example. We never thought we would have come up with the idea to add rich and tangy sour cream to some biscuit mix, but boy, we're glad we did. The result is a flaky, buttery, perfectly moist biscuit that's actually super easy to make. We especially love them with some farm-fresh butter and a smother of sweet, fruity jam. Just trust us! These Sour Cream Biscuits are worth branching out a little bit for!
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, cold
- 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more, to taste, for dusting a work surface and a rolling pin
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2 -Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
Step 3 -In a large bowl, beat the egg.
Step 4 -Add the sour cream and the sugar to the egg and mix until it is fully incorporated.
Step 5 -Grate the butter with a cheese grater and add the butter to the egg mixture.
Step 6 -Add 2 cups of the flour, the baking soda, and the salt to the egg mixture and stir to combine.
Step 7 -Using the extra flour, lightly dust a clean counter surface or a cutting board and place the dough onto the prepared surface.
Step 8 -Using the extra flour, dust a rolling pin and roll out the dough until it is about 1-inch-thick.
Step 9 -Use a 3-4-inch biscuit cutter or the opening of a wide-mouth 16-ounce Mason jar and cut 12 circles out of the dough.
Step 10 -Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
Step 11 -Serve.
