About
A wise man once said that if you're eating at a restaurant for the first time, trying their burger is a good indicator of how the rest of their food will be–it's hard to mess up, right? Well, the establishment that these Steakhouse Burgers are from must be phenomenal because they're very juicy and loaded with sweet, savory, meaty flavor. The buttery bread, creamy milk, sweet garlic, tart Worcestershire sauce, tangy ketchup, and fatty ground beef all come together to make the heartiest, most delicious patties. Grilled to perfection, placed on a fluffy, toasted bun, and topped with your favorite condiments, it's a fact that you can't go wrong with these Steakhouse Burgers!
Ingredients
- 2 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
- 1/3 cup milk
- 2 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 3 pounds ground beef, 80-85% lean
- 3 scallions, optional, finely sliced
- olive oil, to taste, for oiling the grill grates
- 8 slices cheese, optional, of your choice
- 8 hamburger buns, for serving
- condiments, optional, of your choice, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the grill to high heat.
Step 2 -In a large bowl, mash the bread and the milk with a fork until it forms a chunky paste.
Step 3 -Add the salt, the pepper, the garlic, the Worcestershire, and the ketchup to the bread mixture-milk mixture and mix well.
Step 4 -Add the ground beef and the scallions to the bread mixture.
Step 5 -Use your hands to break up the meat and evenly combine all the ingredients.
Step 6 -Using your hands, divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions and form compact balls.
Step 7 -Flatten the balls into 3/4-inch-thick patties, about 4 1/2-inches across.
Step 8 -Form a slight depression in the center of each patty to prevent the burgers from puffing up on the grill.
Step 9 -Using the oil, grease the grill grates.
Step 10 -Grill the burgers, covered, until nicely browned on the first side, about 2-4 minutes.
Step 11 -Flip the burgers and evenly add the slices of the cheese. Continue cooking until the cheese is melted and the desired doneness is reached, 135 degrees for medium-rare.
Step 12 -Toast the buns on the cooler side of the grill.
Step 13 -Place the 8 burgers on the 8 buns and top with your favorite condiments.
Step 14 -Serve.
