Overnight breakfast bakes are so underrated! Who doesn't want to wake up, wait 30 minutes, and then enjoy a filling, hearty breakfast?! That's what you get with Savory Breakfast Croissant Casserole! You just toss all the ingredients, like the salty ham, smooth cheese, and tangy egg concoction in a pan, chill them in the fridge overnight, and then you're good to go the next morning! It's perfect for a lazy day or even when you don't have a ton of time. See? Savory Breakfast Croissant Casserole is proof that these kinds of dishes are the best way to start off your day!
Ingredients
- 6-8 medium croissants, torn in half
- 8 ounces deli ham or cooked leftover ham, cut into thirds
- 6 ounces Swiss cheese or Gruyère cheese, shredded
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup half-and-half or whole milk
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- salt, to taste
- powdered sugar, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -Lightly coat a 9x11-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
Step 2 -In the prepared dish, add the croissant pieces and nestle the ham pieces around them, then sprinkle with the cheese.
Step 3 -In a small bowl, whisk the eggs, the half-and-half, the Dijon mustard, and the salt together.
Step 4 -Pour the egg mixture over the croissant mixture.
Step 5 -Cover the dish with foil and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes and up to overnight.
Step 6 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 7 -Bake the casserole, covered, for 20 minutes.
Step 8 -Remove the foil and bake until the casserole is hot and bubbly and the top is golden, about 10-15 minutes.
Step 9 -Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes.
Step 10 -Sprinkle the casserole with the powdered sugar.
Step 11 -Serve.
