About
Everyone loves a good jalapeño popper, but not everyone has a deep fryer or wants all that grease. Not a problem! The Popper Ring has you covered and then some! The creamy, cheesy filling perfectly balances out the heat from the peppers, and it all gets wrapped up in a buttery crescent roll! Golden-brown and ready to dazzle at your next game-night, this Popper Ring certainly has a pop of flavor to it!
Ingredients
- 12 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup cheddar cheese blend, shredded
- 4 jalapeños, chopped, with or without seeds and stems
- 1/4 cup scallions, thinly sliced, plus more, to taste, for garnish
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- 2 (8-ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 egg, optional, beaten
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2 -In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, the cheddar cheese, the jalapeños, 1/4 cup of the scallions, the salt, and the pepper and mix until fully blended.
Step 3 -Open one of the cans of crescent rolls and carefully separate the roll into two halves.
Step 4 -Unroll the halves of the dough and divide them into two rectangular pieces each, making a total of four rectangles.
Step 5 -Place the rectangular pieces of dough on a baking sheet in a half-circle shape, leaving the center with an open hole.
Step 6 -Open the second can and repeat the process, filling in the open areas and completing the circle shape with the four dough rectangles, and still leaving an open center. It should sort of look like a sunburst or a flower.
Step 7 -Gently pat down the perforations in the dough to seal them.
Step 8 -Pat down the dough pieces on one another just a bit so they are connected.
Step 9 -Scrape the filling mixture into a circle surrounding the hole in the middle, about 1-inch away from the center hole.
Step 10 -Fold the edges up around the filling into the middle, forming a ring and leaving the hole in the center.
Step 11 -Brush the dough with the beaten egg.
Step 12 -Bake until the crust is golden-brown, about 20-25 minutes.
Step 13 -Allow it to cool for 5-10 minutes.
Step 14 -Slice and serve garnished with the extra scallions.
