Ingredients
- 4 pounds jumbo shrimp, shells on and heads on
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 8 large lemons, juiced, reserving half of the lemon halves, plus more, to taste, wedged, for garnish
- 3/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons black pepper
- 1/2 cup butter, cut into 1-inch-wide pieces
- 2 cloves garlic, smashed
- 1 cup heavy cream
- green onions, to taste, sliced, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Position an oven rack 6-inches from the heat and preheat the broiler to high heat.
Step 2 -In a 9x13-inch baking dish, add the shrimp, the olive oil, the lemon juice from 8 of the lemons, the Worcestershire sauce, and the hot sauce and gently toss to coat.
Step 3 -Sprinkle the shrimp with the salt and the black pepper.
Step 4 -Evenly distribute the butter slices and the smashed garlic over the shrimp.
Step 5 -Place the reserved lemon halves over the tops of the shrimp.
Step 6 -Broil the shrimp, stirring occasionally, until they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F, about 10-12 minutes.
Step 7 -Transfer the baking dish to a wire rack and use a slotted spoon to place the shrimp in a shallow bowl. Cover it to keep warm.
Step 8 -Strain the shrimp drippings into a 2-quart saucepan and place it over medium heat. Discard the lemon halves and the garlic cloves.
Step 9 -Add the heavy cream to the shrimp drippings and whisk to combine. Cook until it is heated through.
Step 10 -Plate the shrimp covered with the sauce.
Step 11 -Garnish with the green onions and the extra lemon wedges and serve. Discard the shells and the heads before eating.
